The Shangpa Network is the producer and the distributor of the projects. It is an initiative of the Kagyu Lama International association www.shangpa.net, founded in 1978 by Kalu Rangjung Kunchab.

Oleksandra Yaromova
Film director & Multifaceted artist
Oleksandra was born in 1980 in Ukraine. At 16 she has her first painting exhibition and obtains a degree in reporting and photography.
From 1996 to 2002, she is composer in the polish artist collective LPM in Warsaw, and she participates in cultural projects and artistic performances with albums released worldwide.
She has been living in France since 2002. From 2002 to 2009, she studies Digital arts, multimedia, and Virtual Reality. She participates in the projects of the CiTu Research Laboratory (University of Paris 1 & 8), dedicated to research and creation in the emerging forms of art.
During this period, she develops a passion for documentary films and experimental movies.
From 2009 to 2011, Oleksandra complements her cinematographic studies with a master’s degree in Script-writing and Film-direction at Pantheon Sorbonne University.
She directs her first film “Up as Tightrope Walkers” in collaboration with the actors of the National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Paris (CNSAD), la Sorbonne and Les Films d’Ici.
In 2012, Oleksandra directs the documentary film “The First Kagyü Mönlams in France”, produced by Karma Ling Institute. She now works in relation with various Buddhist Centres and collaborates with researchers, artists, composers and writers on documentary films and live performance projects.

Laurent Fontaine Czaczkes
Cameraman
After obtaining a degree in Physics (University Paris 6), Laurent Fontaine Czaczkes turns to the arts & the cinema. He graduates with honors, completing a master’s degree in Script-writing and Film-direction at Pantheon Sorbonne University in 2011. He produces his first film, a docu-fiction honoring the natural magnificence and expressivity of actresses.
With his esthetic sense of view, he starts his career as a cameraman at the National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Paris for two films. One of them is “Up as Tightrope Walkers”, whose film director is Oleksandra Yaromova. Since then he has worked with her on various documentary films on Buddhism, on science and on different forms of arts.
He collaborates with many actors filming plays and performances, travelling in various parts of the world. In Paris he works on corporate films and directs his own original short movies.

Karine Barbier
Graphic Designer, photographer
Karine Barbier was born in 1971 in Cotonou, Benin (ex Dahomey). After completing textile studies at the Duperré School of Design, Fashion and Creation in Paris, she spends the following years working for various Parisian styling houses.
She joins Karma Ling Institute in 1993 where she is publishing director of “Dharma” magazine from 1995 to 1998, a period during which she also actively participated in preparing the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1997.
From 1999 to 2005, she holds various positions as artistic director in Marseille, and then begins working free-lance. Building on her past experiences, she exhibits and sells her art each year, partly to the benefit of sick children.
She spends her time creating graphic design art pieces, doing exhibits, and continues her volunteer work for the Buddhist publishing houses Rimay Editions and Claire Lumière Editions. In 2014, she joins the Shangpa Network team to work on the projects of the book and film about the life and enlightened deeds of Kyabje Kalu Rinpoché.

Lama Mingyour
India Trip facilitator and translator
Born in Paris in 1959, he was attracted quite early to Eastern spirituality. During an early trip to India in 1979, he meets the late Kalu Rinpoche and Lama Denys. He decides to stay in Karma Ling, one of the main Buddhadharma centers in France, to study and practice there under the direction of Lama Denys Rinpoche. There and in India, he has had the opportunity to meet several lineage holders. Since 2006, he has been developing opportunities for the Dalit communities to practice the Dharma in Tamil Nadu, India.

Colombe Liu
Project assistant
Born in 1979 in Paris, Colombe has spent her time living between France and Taiwan, immersed in the French, Chinese and American cultures. From 1999 to 2006, she completes a degree in Communication and another one in English literature and civilizations. She works as a volunteer at the National Museum of Taiwan and at the Museum of Modern Arts in Taipei. In France since 2007, she has worked in various schools as a coordinator of programs and seminars. She is now involved in activities related to the Dharma.
